2. | AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY | |
Air Traffic Services, as indicated in the following paragraphs, are provided for the airspace of the territory and waters of The Gambia including the airspace over the High Sea encompassed by Dakar Flight Information Region (FIR). | ||
3. | AIR TRAFFIC SERVICES | |
Air Traffic Services in The Gambia are provided by the GCAA. The airspace of Gambian territories, including adjacent territorial waters, lie within the Dakar Flight Information Region, and it is therefore necessary for aircraft operators to acquaint themselves with the air traffic control procedures in The Gambia AIP, as well as the AFRIQUE OCCIDENTALE ET EQUATORIAL (ASECNA) AIP. | ||
Air Traffic Control is exercised within the Banjul International airspace as follows: | ||
- for flight operations to en-route flights at and above FL 55 within the Dakar FIR, Air Traffic Control, Flight Information and Alerting Services are provided by Dakar Flight Information Service; | ||
- Banjul Approach for flight operations within the Banjul International Control Zone (CTR). | ||
The description of the airspace designated for air traffic services is found in section ENROUTE. | ||
In general, the air traffic rules and procedures in force and the organization of ATS are in conformance with the ICAO Standards, Recommended Practices and Procedures. The Civil Aviation Act has not yet published differences between National Regulations and International Rules and Procedures. No restricted areas exist in The Gambia. | ||
4. | COORDINATION BETWEEN THE OPERATOR AND ATS | |
Coordination between the operator and air traf-fic services
is to be carried out in accordance with ICAO Doc 4444, Part VIII, paragraph 2.1.1.4 and
2.1.1.5. ICAO Doc 44, chapter 7 7.4.1.7.2
