GEN 1.2   ENTRIES, TRANSIT AND DEPARTURE OF AIRCRAFT

1.GENERAL
All flights into The Gambia and landings in such territory will be carried out according to the valid regulations of The Gambia regarding civil aviation.
Aircraft landing in or departing from the territory of The Gambia must first land at and finally depart from an international airport.
2.SCHEDULED FLIGHTS
General
For regular international scheduled flights operated by foreign airlines into or in transit across the territory of The Gambia, the following requirements must be met: the State of the airline must be a party to the International Air Services Transit Agree-ment and/or the International Air Transport Agreement; The Gambia is a party to both agreements; the airline must be eligible to make the flights under the provisions of a bilateral or multilateral agreement, to which the State of the airline and The Gambia are contracting parties, and is in possession of a permit to operate into or in transit across The Gambia. Application for such permits will be sub-mitted to The Director General, Gambia Civil Aviation Authority, at the following address:

Documentary Requirements for Clearance of Aircraft
It is necessary that the below mentioned aircraft documents be submitted by operators for clearance on entry and departure of their aircraft to and from The Gambia. All documents listed below must follow the ICAO standard format, as set forth in the relevant appendices to Annex 9, and are accept-able when furnished in English and completed in legible handwriting.

Note: (The) One copy of the General Declaration is endorsed and returned by Customs, signifying clearance. For the purposes of this regulation, a transit flight is deemed to be one when no passengers embark or disembark. No articles are loaded or unloaded. In the latter case, a - NIL - Cargo Manifest satisfies the requirement.
3.NON-SCHEDULED FLIGHTS
Procedures
If an operator intends to carry out a (series of) non-scheduled flight(s) into The Gambia for embarking or disembarking passengers, cargo or mail, he will apply to the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority (see GEN 1.2-1 paragraph 2.1) for permission to carry out such operations not less than seventy-two (72) hours before the intended landing. The GCAA reserves the right to recover the cost of replying to such applications.
The application must include the following infor-mation in the order shown hereunder:
  1. name of the operator
  1. type of aircraft and registration marks
  1. purpose of flight, number of passengers and/or nature and amount of freight;
  1. dates and times of arrival and intended departure;
  1. Name, address and business of the char-terer, if any
Authorization to operate commercial flights other than licensed services, must be obtained in all cases before the commencement of the flight.

Same requirements as for scheduled flights.
Public Health Measures applied to Aircraft
Same requirements as for scheduled flights.
4.PRIVATE FLIGHTS
4.1 General
The information contained in the flight plan is accepted as adequate advance notification of the arrival of incoming aircraft.

Outward report documents required by cus-toms.
Public Health Measures applied to Aircraft
All aircraft entering into The Gambia must meet health requirements of the country. 1. COVID 19 Measures. 2. Yellow Fever Vaccination 3. Passengers with infectious diseases should not be allowed entry unless cleared by health authorities.
Overflying and Technical Landing Requests for Civil Aircraft
Overflying and technical landing requests for civil aircraft are to be addressed to the Director General GCAA (see paragraph 1 in GEN 0.1).
5.LANDING OTHER THAN AT BANJUL INTER- NATIONAL AIRPORT
If landing is made elsewhere than at Banjul International Airport, the pilot in command will report the landing when practicable to the Tower of Banjul International Airport by any convenient communication link. The pilot in command will be responsible for ensuring that:
      Contact between passengers and crew members to other persons are avoided
      Cargo, baggage and mail are not removed from the aircraft except as provided as below;
      Any food, agricultural products or plants are not removed from the aircraft except supply-ing the persons on board of the aircraft due to the lack of local food.
